Repugnant Brats vs. Meaningful Sentiment
ST. ELMO'S FIRE is a thoroughly repugnant film. Demi Moore's character gives new meaning to the word "trash." Her mouth spews four letter words in gravely filthy foul tones that make the viewer squirm in disgust. Judd Nelson's character is a pathetic cardboard caricature of rage personified that Nelson seems to typify in all his roles. Emilio Estevez tries in his role, yet it is another role suited for his screen persona. Good to see Martin Balsam even though this is a throwaway role for him. Ally Sheedy once more wastes her talents in this mindless teenage romp trying to make the audience identify with them with some form of empathy. Andrew McCarthy character acts like an Andrew McCarthy clone. Rob Lowe's character and is the one saving grace of this film. Rob Lowe once again commands the screen with his distinctive presence as a man who has more going than meets the eye. Rob Lowe is excellent in this film. Mare Winningham gives her usual performance and it fits her character. Even...

Ernest Triple Feature (Ernest in the Army / Ernest Goes to School / Ernest Goes to Africa)

Importance of Watching Ernest
I've been a fan of Ernest my whole life. The commercials are great, the series was excellent and I really like the first four movies. After 'Ernest Scared Stupid' Jim made five more Ernest movies but the first four(the three on this set and 'Ernest saves Christmas')are what I personally think are the best! So, In my opinion, this set gives you three of the four BEST Ernest movies!

I own the dvd releases from 2002 of the three movies in this 2011 set. The first thing I noticed was that 'Jail' and 'Scared Stupid' are in anamorphic widescreen 16x9. Which I was happy to see because the 2002 dvds of those two films are in fullscreen. Well, I compared the two and it seems that the widescreen is actually the fullscreen cropped to fit the 16x9 ratio. I noticed that in 'Jail' when they show an exterior of Ernest's house you can not see the sidewalk in the widescreen version but can in the fullscreen. It's too bad that they could not get the theatrical print* but it doesn't...

Great picture quality. Anamorphic too!
I won't bore anyone with an actual review of the films. We all know Ernest is awesome, and these are 3 of the best Ernest films. I was pleasantly surprised with the video quality. They looked very nice played on my upscaling dvd player, and best of all, they are all anamorphic. A must buy for Ernest fans, especially for the price.

I have to admit, for me at least, Ernest P. Worrell was an acquired taste. It took awhile for the charm of the character to finally get through to me. Probably the first Ernest appearance to really tip the scales for me was in Ernest Saves Christmas (not included in this triple pack, but readily available on a single disc DVD) which I saw in the theater, many years ago. I'm a sucker for Christmas movies anyway, and ESC just hit all the right buttons for me.

Over the years, the genius that was Jim Varney slowly grew on me, catching the occasional Ernest movie that would turn up on cable TV. I often entertained the notion of collecting the Ernest films on DVD, as they had come to be true guilty pleasures for me. But other than the aforementioned Ernest Saves Christmas, I somehow never got around to it. Then along comes this Mill Creek Entertainment Ernest triple feature for well under ten dollars. What a deal! The perfect way to kick-start my Ernest DVD collection...

The Colony

Listen to everyone here...I did not and disappointed too
The Actors in movie also attracted me to watching this plus the theme of he movie.
It is one of the those instances where I have delayed watching it because of the review and just got bored so I ordered to watch not expecting much.

Even with my expectation not being there much in prior review..I was still surprised how cheap this movie was. It had potential but it is like everyone gave up on it.

If you are like me and can only be satisfied by watching this then keep ordering something else until it comes out on redbox for a $1.00.

Save your money. I really really mean that!

It is okay
If a cross between post apocalyptic fiction and John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars sounds good to you then you will love this movie. It was okay to watch, interesting and held my attention but I wouldn't buy the film, nor would I rush to a theater to spend $10 to see it. Not the best but not the worst film in the genre I have ever seen.

WE LIVE AND DIE BY THE RULES
The film opens as a prepper's orgasm. 400 hundred people live underground in a self sufficient colony. The world has been hit by climate change, famine, and disease. Apparently the flu virus survives year round frozen temperatures. People who have a disease, are killed or forced to leave the colony to prevent infection. Briggs (Laurence Fishburne) is in charge of the colony. His antagonist is Mason (Bill Paxton) a man who has his own, less humane set of survival ethics.

When an incident happens at Colony 5 (they are #7) Briggs takes off to investigate along with Sam (Kevin Zegers) plus token landing party victim.

The post apocalyptic scenery was good. The acting was good. The plot didn't really go anywhere that I found interesting. I don't want to give a lot away, but they spent a lot of time building Sam's character for him to be the most boring of the lot. Things do pick up when they get to Colony 5, but it was too late in the film for them to finally introduce...

A fantastic film about the fun and imagination of children at play
Remember playing war as a child? This movie brings the imagination and fun of those experiences to life in a lively, vivid way.

I found the film thoroughly entertaining, and it brought back fond memories of my youth.

what kind of sick person and sick mind will make such a movie ? with all the killing going on in the world and in usa , we needed a movie in which children are killing eachother .well done director.
