Beck: Episodes 4-6



If you love detective stories & mysteries, this is for you.
Beck is a wonderful detective series with lots of plot twists, personalities (some not quite "normal" like Beck's often enraged and sometimes violent partner, the handsome Grunvald), and plenty of thrills and thought-provoking storylines.

There are 26 Becks, I believe, in the original Swedish and those of us who are big fans are thrilled that we can now start buying them here in the U.S. with English subtitles.

Prior to these new releases (Series 1-3 and Series 4-6), we've had to scrounge all over Europe and Australia to find some and only came up with 17-26.

To all mystery and detective lovers, we may have to buy it, but it's still a gift.

Gets better and better as the series unfold
The first three in the series are well plotted and have good characters but the early series is poorly transferred from tape to DVD. As the series accumulate and episodes get up into the teens and twenties it significantly improves both in presentation and in character development although there are some unexplained leaps of cast, with people dropping out for unexplained reasons and new folks added, while the central characters (Beck and Gunvald Larsson) improve both in relation to one another and in their own character development. It was really quite shocking to be reminded in th earlier episodes about what was then (1997-200) regarded as cutting edge technology, with Windows Millennium edition being used on their now antiquated, small and unhelpful computer system. Beck Murder Mysteries
This series of murder mysteries is excellent. It draws the viewer into the story and keeps them on the edge of their seat! The dialogue is easy to follow even though it is in Swedish (with occasional english) and is subtitled in english.

The only downside is knowing that we are nearing the end of the series...
